How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to you word. Psalm 119:9 NIV

The Christian life sometimes seems so confusing and difficult. How am I supposed to live it? How am I supposed to be holy? What does that even mean? I’ve pondered these questions many times. Psalm 119:9 is an assurance to me that God willl direct me with His word. He will show me step by step how to live a pure and holy life.

Directions for pure living are found all over the Bible. Some of the simplest instructions were spoken by Jesus in Luke 10:27. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. Love is at the center of obedience. It is our love for God that motivates us to read our Bible and to pray. It’s the assurance of His love for us that makes us desire to know Him better. Loving other people then becomes a natural extension of loving God and obeying His commands.
